Types of Business Accounts and Paperwork Requirements

Sole Proprietorship a business with one owner

General Partnership a business with two or more owners

Corporation a legal entity that acts to shield individual(s) from personal liability for the acts and debts of the business. Businesses may also form a corporation because they want to raise capital by selling stock.
  • Articles of Incorporation

  • corporation resolution authorizing establishments of financial institution accounts4
Limited Liability Company (LLC) a legal entity that acts to shield individual(s) from personal liability for the acts and debts of the business.

Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) similar to an LLC, but its owners are architects, doctors, lawyers or accountants
  • LLP registration certificate

Unincorporated Association usually an informal group that needs a financial institution account for the purposes of collecting funds and paying expenses
